Hearing Aids

As an independent clinic, I work with all main hearing aid manufacturers in NZ, giving you access to a full range of options. Since I'm not tied to any brand, my advice is unbiased - meaning you get the best solution for you.

Hearing aids come in various styles. Most hearing aid styles can be either rechargeable or battery operated and many offer Bluetooth connectivity, allowing pairing with your mobile phone and other Bluetooth devices.

Hearing aid prices start at $490 pair (with government subsidy) and come with a minimum 36 month warranty for peace of mind.

Behind-the-Ear (BTE)

BTE hearing aids are designed to sit comfortably behind the ear, with a tube connecting to either a universal dome or a custom ear mould. All electronic components are housed within the hearing aid body, ensuring protection from moisture and earwax in the ear canal. These devices are well-suited for a variety of hearing losses and are an excellent choice for a durable or high-powered solution.

Receiver-in-the-Canal (RIC)

RIC hearing aids are the most popular style of hearing aid. They have a smaller design than BTEs, and sit behind the ear, with a thin wire carrying the sound to the speaker located in the ear canal. RICs are very discreet and deliver a very clear, natural sound quality.

Custom Hearing Aids

Custom hearing aids are available in a range of sizes and are moulded to fit the unique shape of each ear. Their design encases all the electronic components within a single shell that rests securely inside the ear canal.

Depending on individual needs, they can be designed to be virtually invisible or larger for easier handling.

Bluetooth accessories and Safety alerting devices

Beyond hearing aids, a variety of assistive listening devices and accessories can significantly enhance hearing clarity in more challenging listening situations and improve safety in different environments.

As a mobile clinic, I can assess your home and lifestyle to identify the most suitable solutions. I can also assist in securing funding for devices. Whether you want to trial a device or find the right organisation for assistance, I can guide you through the process.

Some examples of these may be:

  • TV connectors
  • Remote microphones for clearer conversations in challenging situations or hearing at a distance.
  • Alerting devices for around the home for those with Severe Hearing Loss
